Good Morning Everyone!!!
I hope you all had a beautiful Mother's Day. I hope you were all celebrated the way you deserve to be celebrated. We had a great day at my in laws house eating food and playing in the creek with the nephews. I wanted to bring a dessert for the family and decided to make something new. A lot of the family is trying to watch what they eat so I wasn't sure if this pie was going to go over well or not. I figured we would be taking a lot of it at home. Well, we ate the whole thing!!! It was so good I had to share it with you all. It's the perfect combination of salty and sweet and its super easy to make.
Ingredients:
1 cup Pretzels
1 small jar of caramel sauce
1 stick butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 Tbs vanilla
2-8oz pkg cream cheese
Directions:
Take your pretzels in a food processor and blend until finely chopped. I did a little more than 1 cup of pretzels. It was about 1 1/2 cups. Once finely chopped, place in a bowl with sugar and melted stick of butter. Mix well and pour into a pie plate. Press pretzel mixture firmly into the pie plate to form your crust. New mix together soften cream cheese, vanilla, and caramel sauce. Mix together until smooth. Then add 1/4 heavy cream until smooth. Once everything is combined, pour mix onto the pretzel crust. Let it set in the refrigerator for three hours or over night. You can shave chocolate over the top before serving or drizzle caramel sauce.
The original recipe called for just half of the caramel sauce, but as I was taste testing (which every great chef does) I felt like it needed more caramel, so I added the whole jar. It was a good decision. The family ate the whole pie!! There was nothing to bring back home. They all asked me to make it again. I even laid in bed last night and thought of other ways to make the pie. Maybe adding chocolate sauce instead of caramel or something different. That's the fun thing about cooking, is trying new things. Today is National Eat What You Want Day, so if you so want to make a pie and eat it yo do that. Whatever you decided to make have fun with it. I promise this pie will be a crowed pleaser. Have a fantastic day!!
