Hello Everyone,
November is the month for family and thankfulness and I love everything about it. I think it's really important to take a step back and reflect on what you are thankful for and come together as a family, especially this year. It’s easy to look at this year and feel negative about everything we have seen and gone through, but it's also very important to look at the positive things you have had this year as well.
This year has been full of up's and down's for everyone. We have all had wins and losses. Although I’m sure it feels like we have had more losses than wins. So, how can we spend time together as a family and be in the moment of thankfulness.
November 14th is National Family PJ Day. This day invites everyone of all ages to wear their favorite pajamas for a party. Whether we snuggle in for extra sleep or binge watch our favorite television series, the day will be filled with family highlights. As you all wear your PJs for the day here are a few ideas that you can do to celebrate the day.
Cook together in your PJs
There is nothing better than being cozy and eating good food. You could cook some fun breakfast foods together or your favorite cookie recipe together. Here is a cute turkey cookie idea for just this type of fun equation.
Thanksgiving Turkey Cookies
Ingredients
roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated sugar cookie dough or 1 package (16 oz) Pillsbury™ Ready To Bake!™ refrigerated sugar cookie dough (24 cookies)
cup chocolate creamy frosting (from 16 oz container)
Candy corn
Orange decorating icing
M&M's® Minis™ chocolate candy
Black decorating gel
Steps
Bake cookies as directed on roll or package. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.
Spoon chocolate frosting into 1-quart freezer storage bag; seal bag. Cut off tiny bottom corner of bag. On each cookie, pipe frosting on outer edge of half of cookie. Arrange candy corn over frosting for feathers.
Pipe orange icing onto each cookie to resemble turkey face and feet. Use orange icing to attach baking bits to turkey face for eyes. Pipe black gel on baking bits for centers of eyes.
Movie Marathon
This is a fun time to sit and watch your favorite shows or movies. Pick a serious together and binge watch the whole thing. You can have all kinds of fun with this activity. Have your pjs match the theme of the movies you watch or even cook themed food for your movie marathon. The sky is the limit.
Take a walk
Who says you have to stay home when you wear your Pjs. Why not take the family on a hike in your pjs or maybe a trip to the park. Your family will make memories as you walk around and discover nature as you get some fresh air in your pjs together.
Take Family Photos
There is nothing better than taking silly photos to remember your fun and silly day together. You could take them outside or even indoors. Just be as silly as you can have a fun time together. These pictures could be the start of a fun tradition and will be something you look back on from years to come. Make sure you say CHEESE!!!
This is just a fun day to enjoy your family together in a fun and silly way. Making fun memories or even traditions that will last a lifetime. Whatever you do today make sure you let the ERC know and tag us in your fun family photos. Have a great Pj day everyone.
