Looking for activities for an outdoor event? The Emporia Recreation Center has a wide variety of lawn games that can be checked out. Call us when you’re planning your next company picnic, church get-together, or family gathering. We can get you set up with some fun outdoor games like Croquet, Baggo (Corn Hole), Washers, Bolo, Bocce, Horse Shoes, and Kubb.
Grab a couple of your friends and your spirit of adventure, and we will provide the ride to lunch! The location is a mystery and will keep you guessing until we arrive. Our adventures take us far and wide but we are usually back in Emporia by 1:00-1:30pm. We will do the driving to get you there and back safely so you can relax and enjoy the company. Please let us know if you are unable to get to ERC, and we will be glad to pick you up. This is a great way to meet new friends, try new restaurants and get out of town!

Preserving the abundance available now ensures a year-round supply of delicious and wholesome goodies! The effort expended in one very busy day pays off on those cold winter days when summer seems so far away. We will make melon pickles and salsa, plus tomatoes, corn and more. Recipes and tips for submission of canned goods to county and state fairs will be provided. All class participants will bring home their share of preserved items. Instructor Tracey Graham learned to can from her grandmother, to freeze from her mother and to dehydrate from books. She loves food of all kinds and enjoys sharing with others.
